Gestures, Mirroring of - Mirroring
of gestures is part of the package of techniques known as "rapport"
to soothe the subject's critter-level
brain so that communication is easier and deeper. When the subject makes a
motion, typically with the arm and hand, the programmer
can find a way to copy that gesture a short time later, using the opposite
arm - so that it appears as if the subject were seeing his/her own gesture
in a mirror. Mirroring of gestures is especially powerful when used with digital

) One of the two co-founders of NLP, with a Ph.D. in Linguistics, John
was joined by Richard Bandler at the
University of California at Santa Cruz in 1972 to start working on a
project involving modeling the therapies of some of the leading
therapists, which became the core of NLP. Wikipedia
